Start Before You Are Ready

IMG_4883As some of you know, getting up early is not easy for me.  However, I am proud to say that TWO days in a row now I have been up at 6:00!  Thank you to Chris for helping with this.  Lately, I have been a BIG proponent of following this advice…

Start-Before-Youre- Ready

Of all the lessons I have learned in life, this one is pre-tty, pre-tty important!  Start BEFORE you are ready.  With ANYTHING that I have been wanting to do lately, I follow this motto.  Don’t get me wrong, my brain often gets trapped in the “planning” phase.  I am now much more aware of how much time I spend THINKING about something I want to do rather than just DOING IT!  No more wasting time planning (because things never go as planned anyway).  Plus, the sooner I jump into something, the sooner I get to the fun parts – making mistakes and LEARNING how to get better at it.

overthinking

So, yesterday I found myself planning out how I would start implementing a daily morning routine.  I was going to make a list, prioritize, plan out how much time each item would take, blah, blah, blah…then I became aware of what I was doing.  NO MORE PLANNING…JUST START DOING!!!  So I did.  This morning I got up and just started doing things that I WANT to do in the morning.  It went well.  Here is the order in which things happened:

1) Chris pulled covers off me

2) Groaning and begging to sleep 15 more minutes (NO – GET UP!!!!)

3) Poured coffee like a zombie and let myself truly wake up while I sat on the couch with NO social media

4) After the magic of coffee kicked in, I cleared the sink of dishes and got Chris’s shake and coffee ready

I knew I needed to feel more AWAKE so…

5) Put real clothes on (normally I mope around in my bathrobe in the morning), brushed my teeth, put  my hair up, and hung up the bathrobe

I want to start meditating in the morning so I thought “maybe I should get online and research apps.”  NO – JUST FIND ONE, DOWNLOAD IT, and START!  So I did.

6) 5 minutes of guided meditation with the first free app that popped up

7) Did my itty bitty workout while listening to a short 10 minute personal development podcast

8) Reread my journal (which includes my goals, daily affirmations, and other fun happy things)

9) Daily journaling/blogging (doing it right now 🙂 )

And after this…the BEAST

10) Daily workout – I WILL start doing this in the AM – no more procrastinating!

So, for some daily reflection, what are the things you are wasting time just “planning out” right now.  What should you just START?  What small action will you take today to get closer to whatever it is you want to do?  I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

action always beats intention

Tips for Eating Out With Self Control

We eat out A LOT!!! How do I keep myself under control?  Here are a few tips for eating out with self control.

1) Order something I WANT but make a healthy modification (fruit instead of fries and then I just eat some of Chris’s fries…hehe)
2) Ditch lots of the sauces (here I scraped off the sour cream)
3) Eat SLOW
4) Drink LOTS and LOTS of water while eating slow
5) Leave LOTS on my plate and take home for later

Not only do I fill up FAST by eating slow and drinking lots of water, I also take a lot home so I get two meals out of it therefore saving $$$!

Expand your beliefsYou can DO ANYTHING!

Your Health is Priceless

When I start something new, my motivation is high. I am ready to take on anything and invest in anything. Inevitably, the initial motivation wears off and self-doubt starts to creep in. Can I actually do it? Am I dedicated enough? Do I have the patience? Do I have the strength? Am I trying to reach for something that is out of my league? My excuses start to fill my head. I don’t have enough time. I don’t have enough energy. I don’t have enough money. I don’t have enough will power. I don’t want to do it anymore. Then I have to remember that without my health, I would have nothing. There is no amount of money or no length of time that is more valuable than that.  My health is priceless.  Your health is priceless.

Are you taking care of yourself or are you making excuses?

12002361_10100537085569860_6218415006216777796_oHere are today’s (all from the book You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero):

“…fear will always be there, poised and ready to wreak havoc, but we can choose whether we’re going to engage with it…”

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.”

>>>>This one also really hit home for me>>>> “We’re unwilling to make other people more uncomfortable than they just made us.”

“Never apologize for who you are. It lets the whole world down.”

When someone takes a leap of faith

I hope you join in the Badass Bookclub fun!

Push Yourself

Recently, I have had to push myself outside my comfort zone in sooooo many other areas of my life besides my physical fitness. It is scary. It is hard. It is unknown. It is exciting. It is emotionally exhausting. Some people understand and some people don’t. It WILL all make me a stronger person ultimately. Just like a challenging workout…it’s hard to take the first step, it’s exhausting while you are doing it, it’s still hard even after you’ve done it a few times, and some people will think you are crazy!
